Why Rice?

Rice in Chinese character writes as 米. It originally represented a pictograph of a pile of unhusked rice. Qi in Chinese character writes as 气It is derived from a pictograph of steam rising from rice as it cooks, symbolizing vapor or gas. Translated as "qi" or "chi," it refers to the vital energy or life force in traditional Chinese philosophy and medicine. Together, 米 and 气 with their historical roots in pictographs related to rice, symbolize sustenance and life energy, emphasizing the importance of both physical nourishment and spiritual well-being in Chinese culture. The characters embody a holistic view of health and life.

Our Story

Becoming a mother is a journey of growth. It not only brings physical transformation, but also implies spiritual sublimation. The phrase "A mother is strong" expresses the tenacity formed by mothers in the process of raising children, and is also a concrete manifestation of the unique power of women.

In this challenging process of becoming a mother, psychological and spiritual support is particularly critical. Looking back on when I first became a mother ten years before, my son was sick often when he was little, he could have pneumonia several times a year and quickly develop asthma. At that time, I visited the most senior experts in the best hospital, but the treatment result could not last long. The same symptoms could reappear in several weeks. I was forced to explore everywhere for a solution.

In this process, I was lucky to come into contact with Teacher Hu, who was familiar with European natural therapy. She was still systematically studying traditional Chinese medicine courses at the time. Her knowledge and experience opened up a new perspective for me. So I began to practice these two ancient wisdoms in my life, and slowly my child and my body and mind were stabilized, and I felt a sense of a sapling taking root in my heart.

This experience touched me deeply, and it is also the motivation for me to found Rice&Cedarwoods, I hope that through the daily practice of the two great wisdoms of Chinese and Western natural therapies, I can support every family (every mother particularly) for a well lived life.
